Applications are in!
Thursday, March 13th, 2008Today, at long last, the applications for adoption have been mailed in! Three in all - one for the homestudy agency, one for the adoption agency, one for the Department of Homeland Security (immigration). Our first $1000 - boy, now I feel commited! We are adopting through Families Through International Adoption , based in Evansville, Indiana. Now we begin what is called the "paperchase". Piles and piles and piles of paperwork. Bloodwork. Criminal background checks (five of them). Home inspection by the fire department. Home study by a social worker. New birth and marriage certificates - can’t use the old ones - even though none of the information has changed in 50 years, but hey, I’m not makin’ the rules! And, all of these documents must be less than six months old when they go to China! Hold on for wild ride!
